Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology

The Division of Clinical Biochemistry & Immunology provides qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological fluids such as blood, serum or plasma, urine, or tissues for specific chemical constituents or physiologic processes.

Cellular Pathology

Cellular pathology is the study of organs and tissues, and is used to diagnose illnesses and medical problems, similar to other branches of medicine, such as blood testing, radiology, blood transfusion and biochemistry. We analyse the causes of certain diseases and the effects that they are having on the body.

Haematology

Haematology is the specialty responsible for the diagnosis and management of a wide range of benign and malignant disorders of the red and white blood cells, platelets and the coagulation system in adults and children. Haematologists care directly for patients on hospital wards and out patient clinics.

Microbiology

The Microbiology laboratory service at George Eliot Hospital and South Warwick Hospital is now at the single-site laboratory at University Hospital, as part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services.

Molecular Pathology

The molecular lab at UHCW is a multi-disciplinary department carrying out molecular diagnostics in microbiology (virology), histopathology and blood sciences.
